Inertia

The Law of Inertia states that a body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest. Let me tell ya...I have spent the last several months
at rest ...stopped...the exercise level equivalent of Rip VanWinkle. Well...NO MORE. I'm done.
I am declaring war on my own hinny. I need to debulk. Weight is probably both my most obvious struggle and the one I am least apt to discuss. It seems silly to me as I write this. My mission today is to out myself and my struggle so that as I go through this concerted effort to decrease my mass I am accountable not only to myself, but to many. There is such a temptation to keep a weight loss effort a secret and just accept those compliments as they roll in (as pounds come off). This time, I'll be trying the other way...with prayer....with support.

Counsel

Just to be trendy, I thought I might do a question blog...so here goes:

1. What is the funniest piece of advice anyone ever gave you?

2. What is the most valuable piece of advice you have received?

3. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?

All I want for Christmas is a Shower, Santa Claus

So here I sit on the other side of 15 hours on the road. yes...you read that right...15 hours.
and it went a little something like this...

810am...departure from my Mom's house in Eagan, MN
817am...stop #1...Walgreen's...we discover we only have 2 diapers left for Manny
827am...on the road...finally
1007am...status post stop#2...potty break...culprit: me.
request for shoe and sock removal granted...
van now smells of tiny hot feet
1014am...stop #3 fuel, 3 cheese sticks, coffee, Mt Dew & water
1026am...back on the road...Manny is fussy, he sounds like a gameshow buzzer...
I keep thinking, "Is my time up , Alex?"
1036am...Evan is requesting the potty despite repeated and, I must say, insistent pleads for him to utilize the facilities at the last travel plaza...damn.
1047am...2nd demand for the potty...he will not be talked out of it...*sigh*
1052am...stop #4 potty for Evan and we happen upon a 1906 steam engine, much to Sam's delight.
1111am...back on the road...on the road for like 3 hours and not even 1/6th the way home*sigh*
1215am...stop #5 lunch @ McD's in the Dells
104pm...back on the road
304pm...fast approaching Chicago...past the travel "oasis" foolishly thinking we are "all set"
kids sleeping x3
307pm...GBoo...up and crying
314pm...Manny up and fussing
324pm...Evan Drake up...relatively cheerful
343pm...everybody's happy...2nd and final Oasis before Chicago...passed up.
356pm...it becomes clear that we are in rush hour, bumper to bumper, 10 feet every
5minute traffic
412pm...it be comes clear that Manny is hungry...
417pm...we have no water to mix formula...Mt Dew and formula is briefly considered...discarded 420pm...what is that smell?!...HOLY CRAP, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T CHANGE MANNY IN THE DELLS?!
424pm...stop#6 a Target store with a Starbucks inside...God is Good!
523pm...back to the traffic and a little rain for flavor
624pm...still in heavy traffic...a fight between E&G over whether we are on the road or on
the highway has reached a fever pitch...did I pack that ativan??
735pm...stop #7 Indiana Tollway Travel Oasis...mmm...ice cream
835pm...stop #8 again with the smell
1140pm...home sweet home

DUH...pray.

Part of my recovery process involves taking "breaks". Basically, that loosely translates to:

"May I be excused??...My brain is full."

followed by anywhere from 5-20 minutes of quiet...sometimes 5-20minutes of Dr Phil...sometimes 5-20 minutes of baked potato chips...5-20 minutes of a Mai Tai the size of my head...

whatever it takes to calm the storm....but hey...you know what works the best???

prayer.

It is so amazing to me that the simple act of just speaking the words...
"Father this is too much for me in this moment, please grant me reprieve"
can refresh me. I highly recommend it:)
